Julia:
Yeah, t here's one on the first floor, opposite the cinema.

We ask " Is there a ..." when we want to find one thing or one place.

We can answer "Yes, there is a ..." or "Yes there's one."

Example

Is there a department store in Shopping World? Yes, there is .

We can also answer "No, there is no…" or "No, there isn't ."

Example

Is there a lift in Shopping World? No, there's no lift in Shopping World.
Is there an escalator in Shopping World? No, there isn't.

We can also use the plural.

Example

" Are there any bookshops in this city?" "Yes, there are three bookshops in this city."
" Are there any pet shops in Shopping World?" "No, there aren't . "
