When we buy something,
we ask :
We hear the answer (for example):
" How much is it?"
or
" How much does it cost?"
" It 's five dollars."
or
"It costs five dollars."

Many countries use dollars and cents for money.


Notes or bills.
Dollars are usually notes.
For example, $100, $50, $20, $10, $5.



Coins. Cents are usually coins.
For example, 50c, 20c.
We can pay by cheque .
This is a cheque. We write on it how much money we want to pay.
We can pay by credit card . Here is an ATM (Automatic Teller Machine) .
We use a card to get money from this machine.
