Good morning. Are you here for an interview?
Amy:
Yes. My name is Amy Tan.
Tom: Hi Amy. I'm Tom Hill. I'm a teacher here. Come in and have a seat.
Amy: Thank you.
Tom: How are you this morning?
Amy: Fine, thank you.
Tom: Now Amy, I have to ask you some questions for your student form.
Amy: Okay. Could you speak more slowly please?
Tom: Sure. What's your surname again please?
Amy: Sorry? I don't understand your question.
Tom: Uh, what's your family name - err - your last name?
Amy: Oh I see, Tan.
Tom: Tan. Is that TAN?
Amy: Yes it is.
Tom: Is Amy your Chinese name?
Amy: No it's my English name. My Chinese name is Li Yu.
Tom: Okay. Your first name is Li Yu. Can you spell that?
Amy: Yes. It's L-I, new word Y-U.
Tom: Okay and do you have any other names?
Amy: No.
Tom: And you're female.
