UNIT 03 Spending money TOPIC 01 What do you spend your money on?
Listening LISTENING 01 How much do you spend?
Ben and Nat are friends at City College. They are in the cafeteria.
Nat:
What are you having for lunch, Ben?
Ben:
I'm having a hamburger with fries. I'm really hungry.
Nat: Lucky you! I'm having a cheese sandwich. Sandwiches are cheap, and I don't have much money.
Ben: Mmm...
Nat: Eating out is so expensive. I don't often buy my lunch. I usually cook at home.
Ben: Really? And what about transport? It's expensive too. How much do you spend on bus fares?
Nat: Oh, not much. I walk to college.
Ben: Hmm. I want to buy a car, but I can't save enough money. I spend a lot on clothes and entertainment.
Nat: Entertainment? What do you mean?
Ben: Oh, you know, movies, dancing, CDs.
Nat: Really? I don't go out much. I usually stay home and watch TV. I sometimes go dancing.
Ben: Oh well, maybe one day we'll be rich!
