UNIT 04 Somewhere to live TOPIC 02 Where do you live?
Listening LISTENING 02 This is where I live
Julia and Nat are in the street. They are outside Julia's apartment.
Julia:
This is where I live.
Nat:
Oh, it's really nice! Which floor do you live on?
Julia: I live on the seventeenth floor. I have a wonderful view of the city and the park.
Nat: Oh nice!
Julia: Yes it is. I often sit on my balcony at night and look at the city. It's beautiful.
Nat: And you have a swimming pool!
Julia: Yeah, I love swimming. I use the pool all the time. Anyway, what's your place like?
Nat: Oh it's nice. I live in a house with two other students.
Julia: Does your house have a garden?
Nat: Yes. It has a front yard and a big backyard. There are lots of trees in the garden.
Julia: Oh, it sounds lovely. My apartment block doesn't have a garden.
Nat: Yes, I love sitting outside, in my backyard. My street is really quiet and there are lots of birds.
Julia: Well, my street is noisy. There are always cars and big trucks in the street.
Nat: Yes but you are close to everything. You have a shopping centre opposite your building and you are near the train station and the bus stop.
Julia: That's true. What about your house? Is it close to transport?
Nat: Oh, it's not far. There isn't a train station but the bus stop is in the next street.
Julia: Hey, do you want to come up and see my apartment? I think my flatmate, Keiko, is home. You can meet her too.
Nat: Sure. I'd love to.
