Hiro says:

He is inviting Maria to go out.

There are different ways we can invite or ask someone to do something:

2. Accepting - saying 'yes'


We can accept (say 'yes' to) an invitation in different ways too:

Maria says:
That sounds great!

Here are some ways we can accept an invitation:


Would you like to go bowling sometime this week?

That'd be great!

I'd love to!

That sounds good!

That sounds great!

Yes, this week's good for me.

3. Refusing - saying 'no'


Sometimes we cannot accept an invitation.

It is very important to refuse (say 'no') politely.


Would you like to go bowling sometime this week?
I'd love to but

I'm sorry

I'm afraid

Sorry
I'm busy this week.

I can't make it this week.

This week's not good for me.

Sometimes we cannot accept an invitation because we are busy.
We can suggest another time to meet:

I'd love to go swimming on Tuesday but I'm not free. How about Friday?
