Listening LISTENING 02 What do you usually eat for breakfast?
The four friends eat different things for breakfast.
Jessica:
Look at all this food! Isn't it wonderful?
Tim:
Yes, I don't know what to choose!
Jessica: The fruit looks great, really fresh. I think I'll start with fruit salad, yoghurt and cereal. What about you?
Tim: Let's see….Mm.. I think I'll have pancakes.
(Eriko and Yasu join Tim and Jessica at the buffet.)
Eriko:
Hi, Jessica! Hi, Tim! Sorry we're late. Oh! Look at all this food! I don't know what to eat. What are you having, Jessica?
Jessica: Well, I'm having fruit, yoghurt and cereal.
Eriko: That sounds great!
Yasu: What do you usually have, Tim?
Tim: I usually have eggs and bacon and toast with coffee, but today I'm having pancakes.
Eriko: It's SO different from Japan. In Japan we eat fish and rice and soup.
Tim: Really? For breakfast? Do you ever eat toast?
Yasu: Yes, sometimes.
Tim: What do you have for lunch?
Yasu: Hmmm…. In Japan we usually have soup, rice or noodles and vegetables. We don't eat much meat. What about in Australia?
Tim: In Australia we usually eat sandwiches with meat or cheese and salad.
Jessica: I NEVER eat meat. I'm a vegetarian. I have cheese and salad.
Tim: In Australia we often have meat and vegetables, but seafood is getting very popular.
Eriko: We eat a lot of seafood in Japan too. We usually have rice and vegetables with fish or seafood. We also have a lot of soup.
Tim: Anyway, I'm getting hungry. What are you having for breakfast?
Yasu: I'll have eggs and bacon, toast and some orange juice. What are you having, Eriko?
Eriko: And I'll have fruit salad, tea and toast.
