Philip says:
Philip:	I remember getting into trouble a lot but I don't remember learning much.

Philip talks about an action that he remembers.
We use remember + verb + ing to talk about an action that we remember.

I remember I don't remember	getting	into trouble a lot.
I remember I don't remember	meeting	my first teacher.

Philip talks about a time that he remembers.
We use remember + time clause (when I …) to talk about a time we remember.
