In this activity you will learn to talk about things you were and were not allowed to do.

1. be allowed to / let

Wendy writes:
We weren't allowed to speak English in class.
Miriam writes:
One teacher let us call her by her first name, Jane.


These words are used when someone gives us permission to do something.

I had to go to bed before 10pm on a school night.
Wendy writes:

We use have to and make when there are rules about what we can do and can't do.
