Learn how to talk about what you do in your free time.
Pedro says:
I read a lot .
I also spend a lot of time watch ing old movies.
Jim watches a lot of news too.

When we describe our leisure activities we can say:

1. verb + (noun) a lot

I practise the guitar a lot.
surf the Internet
He eats out

' A lot ' has the same meaning as often.

2. (verb) a lot of (noun)

I
watch a lot of action movies.
They basketball games.
We TV.
My daughter watches a lot of cartoons on TV.

We play
- musical instruments (eg guitar, drums)
- sports games (e.g. table tennis, golf)
- other games (e.g. chess, computer games)

3. Spend time + verb + ing

I spend a lot of time gardening.
We some reading.
She spends a bit of studying each day.

When we talk about spending time doing something we usually also say how much time (e.g. a lot, a bit of).

4. go + verb + ing

We go swimm ing once a week.
He goes horse-rid ing a lot.

When we talk about an action we use 'go + ___ing'

We say:
I like to go swimming
OR
I like going swimming

I like going shopping.
to go
She doesn't like going dancing.
to go
