1. Starting a conversation

Maria and Rose say:
Maria:
Hello , my name's Maria . Are you enjoying the party?
Rose:
Yes thanks, I'm having a great time. I'm Rose…

Maria introduces herself and asks a question to start the conversation with Rose.

2. Continuing the conversation

Maria and Rose say:
Rose:
… Do you know many people here ?
Maria:
Not really. I'm here with Pedro….

Rose asks a polite question about Maria to continue the conversation.

Maria and Rose say:
Rose:
So which one is Pedro ? The tall fit looking one with the guitar?
Maria:
Yes, that's Pedro. He's just moved in with Jim.

Rose asks a question about another person to continue the conversation.

Maria and Rose say:
Rose:
Yes, I remember you now too! Bogota, wasn't it ?
Maria:
That's right, I'm going home to visit my family. I used to live there, but last year I moved to Sydney.

Rose asks more questions about the topic to continue the conversation.
