	LISTENING 03 A great benefit to the community
	Claudia and Jin Hee are still listening to the radio news in the café of the sports club.

News reader:	Good news for residents of New Town today. The council is planning to build a new recreation centre on South Street by the river. The new centre is going to have a large outdoor swimming pool, a gym, basketball courts and a football field. It will also have a child care centre, so parents can enjoy the new, modern facilities. Earlier today we interviewed the Mayor of New Town, Barry Baskett.
Barry:	I really think this new recreation centre will be of great benefit to the community. I'm sure all residents are going to make full use of the facilities.
News reader:	The new recreation centre will cost around 2.7 million dollars and the council hopes to complete the building work within 12 to 15 months. Some residents disagree with the location and are holding a meeting next week to discuss their concerns. The Mayor, Barry Baskett, said he would be happy to answer any questions the residents' committee may have. And now the weather report……

Claudia:	Did you hear that Jin Hee?
Jin Hee:	Yes. I heard about it last week. The sports centre manager told me that we would be having our classes there. I'm really looking forward to it.
Claudia:	It's very convenient for me too. I live near South Street.
Jin Hee:	Hey, maybe we could get a room there, for our adventure sports club meetings.
Claudia:	Great idea, I'll look into it.
