	WRITING 04 Relative clauses
	Now practise using relative clauses.

1	Look at the main clauses on the left.
2	Look at the words on the right.
3	Join the clauses and the words to make sentences.
4	Think about: - which pronoun to use - that, which or who. - where to put the relative clause. - what punctuation to use.

Here is an example.
My sister is a lawyer. /lives in New York.

My sister, who is a lawyer, lives in New York.
or
My sister, who lives in New York, is a lawyer.

1	I am studying English. /is an international language
2	It is important to preserve forests. /give us clean air
3	The students are from many different countries. /study at this school
4	The topic was very interesting. /we studied last week
5	Lee was at the wedding. /was held in an old church
6	Sophie and Jenny live in the same suburb. /have known each other since 1991
7	LANGUAGE FOCUS is sometimes boring. /means the rules of a language
8	The man has left. /was standing there
9	My teacher is very good. /has taught me for six months now
10	The book has been stolen. /I borrowed from the library
