	Formation of adverbs

We form many adverbs by adding -ly to adjectives.

Adjective	Adverb
recent	recently
slow	slowly
quick	quickly
dangerous	dangerously
clear	clearly
careful	carefully
sad	sadly

If the adjective ends in y, we drop the y and add ily.

If the adjective ends in le, we drop the e and add y .

There are some adverbs that have the same form as the adjective, for example: hard, late, early, fast, east, west, north, south, next, far.
